After studying animation in UAL csm for two years, I am about to graduate and start my career. It’s a new start and I am really excited about starting my career as an animation director. Over the last several decades, animated film has risen in popularity and importance in the motion picture industry (Bancroft, 2013). Personally, I specialize in 3D animation as I have done many productions during my undergraduate and master. Even though it wasn’t easy at all, I really enjoy the process of creating it and the sense of achievement. Ideally, I plan to get a job in game industry as it has been thriving since the last 10 years and I will be able to apply my skills and knowledges to game industry such as designing 2D, 3D motion graphic, character design and directing the game’s backstory animation.
One of my tutors used to tell me that the best way forward for animation should be games. According to Williams (2002), the video game industry has continued to grow dramatically over the past decade, cutting into mainstream media in participation and revenues as it becomes part of mainstream media culture. Personally, I am really interested in games which is also the reason why I chose this major. Like a film director, an animation director conveys art to the audience through visuals, and the animator is there to make the audience experience the emotions expressed by the characters just like an actor. It would be an amazing thing for me to start my career as an animation director to design and create interesting and special characters for games.
